Data AE chooses WorkForce business inkjet printer

Architecture firm DataAE develops projects to achieve essential architecture that is suited to today’s environmental, social and economic conditions. Epson’s WorkForce printers help it do this and have been a great ally in the firm’s daily work.

DataAE is a young architectural firm that researches and delivers a non-subjective architectural response, based on multidisciplinary and cooperative work, interpreting initial requirements to provide the most appropriate design that is best suited to the project's needs. Claudi Aguiló, a partner in the firm, was the Spanish representative at the Vision 2020 architecture meeting two years ago, which assessed the state of current architecture and its vision for the next 10 years.

DataAE was founded in 2000 by architect Claudi Aguiló and engineer Albert Domingo. Since its founding, they have sought to achieve the same objectives: high-quality architecture, without excess, that both partners consider 'essential', in-line with the surrounding socio-economic and environmental conditions.

The work of DataAE is based on understanding architecture in a direct relationship to its environment (natural and/or artificial). To do this, they have stopped seeing architecture as isolated with respect to the environment, and instead see it as a thermodynamically open system, with a constant exchange between material, energy and information.

In recent years, despite the difficult climate, the firm has remained active and been able to continue developing the kind of architecture it believes in. The diverse nature of the firm gives them a position of strength. For instance, a 50-50 split between landscaping and building allows for greater adaptability when it comes to the current dearth of construction projects.

Projects: trust is key

For DataAE, all projects are important, whatever their scale or budget. In this sense, what makes the difference is the trust of the user/client. For DataAE, if there is trust, then they can go beyond the known and familiar, therefore, the foundations of the firm's work are passion and involvement.

In this vein they have recently completed projects for university housing in an acrcitecture school in Barcelona, a park in Montgat, a terraced family home in Sant Feliu de Llobregat and a small renovation at an exotic animal clinic and are currently working on a research building for on the University of Barcelona campus, as well as the urbanisation of the historic site of the old Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona.

Youth and technology

While it is a young firm, it is one with very solid ideas; DataAE embraces technology as an essential tool for shaping its work. In fact, it is always seeking innovative ideas, provided that they contribute added value.

These technology solutions provide the speed, effectiveness and efficiency required by the firm's projects. And Epson fulfills its printing needs. DataAE has network connected printers, primarily inkjet, because of their greater accuracy. It prints on different formats, depending on its needs. Obviously not all prints are presentations for public or private tenders, it also requires printed internal documentation which has completely different requirements.

Claudi recently added Epson's WorkForce WF-7525, A3-size, multifunction model to the business, which has been used intensively ever since.

The duplex printing option is also an essential requirement as it translates into significant savings, which is of utmost importance these days. On top of this, at DataAE they work with a scanner directly connected to the computer, covering the need to quickly digitise all work created by hand.
