34th German Evangelical Church Congress chooses WorkForce Pro WP-4595 DNF

From the 1st to the 5th of May 2013, the 34th German Evangelical Church Congress took place in Hamburg. The catch phrase of the congress, “All you want” refers to the miracle that happened to the starving Israelites. According to the account, manna fell from Heaven as they journeyed through the desert. This maxim also has a double meaning, it is a reassurance and a warning at the same time: You will get as much as you need, but don’t use more. A difficult decision for everyone.

Duty towards the environment

The preservation of a healthy environment that is pleasant to live in has always been a primary concern of the Church Congress, and the organisers make great efforts to reduce further the environmental impact of this large scale event. In order to reduce further the emission of green-house gases, the primary cause of climate change, this year's congress has initiated a series of additional actions over and above the usual environmental management. The "Emissions Free Logistics" project puts to the test the many advantages of the use of cargo bikes at major events.

Thus, for example, bicycle couriers used cargo bikes for various tasks. Looking after the delegates to the congress was undertaken as part of the "KleVer" project [Klimaeffiziente Verpflegung – Climate Efficient Supply]. The project involved all supply aspects of the congress and enhances the eco-friendly approach. This ecological responsibility is applied to all areas and hence also involves IT equipment. So a printing solution for the congress press and event office was sought that satisfied the great demands of such a large event, whilst at the same time leaving as small a carbon footprint as possible.
 

Choosing a sustainable printing solution

The choice was the Epson Workforce Pro business inkjet printer. The rapid print speed, simple operation and very low power consumption of the Epson Business inkjet printers are impressive. Thus the use of the inkjet printers can save up to 80% of the power used by comparable laser printers – without compromising speed or quality. The wipe-proof and water-proof DURABrite ink of the Epson WorkForce Pro also enables highlighters to be used immediately after the page has been printed. At the 34th Church Congress in Hamburg, a total of 40 WorkForce Pro 4595DNF printers were used.
