Epson reveals its first mobile scanner for businesses

One of the lightest devices on the market digitises documents in the field

Epson enters the world of mobile scanners, enabling business people such as sales forces and staff at trade shows to easily manage documents in the field. The WorkForce DS-30 portable A4 scanner is the first of this new range, allowing SoHos and large enterprises’ mobile workers to simply and quickly digitise paperwork both inside and outside of the office with ease.

The DS-30 offers first class mobility because it is one of the lightest business scanners on the market at just 325 grammes and has compact proportions. It’s easy to take anywhere as it’s powered by USB 2.0.

Alexiane Richard, document scanner product manager, Epson Europe, says: “Users don’t need any special training, as its interface is intuitive and quick to master, so the versatile DS-30 suits everyone from the beginner to the advanced user. Wherever there is a need to scan and store paper documents such as business cards or signed forms, the DS-30 handles them without fuss.”

The DS-30 also comes with a document management suite to deliver advanced features. The EpsonScan software offers a wide range of functionality including searchable PDF, RGB colour dropout, auto de-skew, auto page size detection, secure PDF, text enhancement, auto area segmentation and punch hole removal. The Abbyy Fine Reader software offers Optical Character Recognition and Presto! BizCard 5 helps manage business cards.

And when teamed with the free download of Epson’s Document Capture Pro software from its website, the DS-30 can be seamlessly integrated into businesses’ workflow via most common Document Management Systems using Windows. Users can do more than just scan with it as, in combination with Document Capture Pro, the DS-30 offers many ‘scan-to’ functions, including scan-to-cloud, scan-to-email and scan-to-SharePoint alongside many other document imaging features such as a barcode recognition and a zonal OCR-A / B support.
