What is the true cost of sustainability?
Energy prices have soared in recent years, and there is no great expectation that they will come down again any time soon. For organisations ranging from small and medium sized businesses, to enterprises and the public sector, that means an unwelcome impact on budgets.
At the same time, these organisations are under pressure from their customers to pursue more environmentally-friendly policies, and to boost their Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) performance.
In fact, almost half (44 per cent) of European businesses now see environmentally-friendly initiatives as a priority, and around the same number (38 per cent) recognise the importance of CSR.
What has this got to do with business inkjet printers?
Business inkjet printers now offer a viable, clean and efficient alternative to laser printers.
In a straight comparison with their laser counterparts, inkjets printers deliver up to 95 per cent reduction in energy usage and CO2 emissions, and a significant reduction in consumables used, resulting in less manufacturing, shipping and storage disposal.
And that translates to an overall reduction in cost for your business.
In short, replacing the out-dated technology of lasers and running a fleet of next-generation business inkjet printers is a fast, practical way to drive down energy use costs, emissions and waste.
So it’s not surprising that, over the last eight years, the market share held by laser printers has undergone a steady and substantial decline. The previously-dominant technology has seen its position eroded; business inkjets now hold 31 per cent of the market.
What’s more, while the overall European market for printers fell by 4.21per cent during the period 2010-18, inkjet’s market share actually grew by 5.89 per cent.
Investing in a greener future
To ensure that business inkjet printers keep their competitive edge, Epson has invested half a billion Euros into their development, manufacture and distribution.
Epson’s policy has been to spend around five to six per cent of its annual revenue on R&D according to Epson’s CEO Minoru Usui.
It is for this reason that PrecisionCore printhead technology is the product of one of the largest investments in research and development in Epson’s history, merging the company’s expertise in MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) fabrication with advances in materials science.
Our commitment to this increasingly popular technology and the benefits it offers, namely, a low-cost way of meeting and exceeding your sustainability goals.
